I used to go every where by car, but since my husband started using it on the weekends for a project I started using more the public transportation. This was actually good for me.

Since I don’t have to drive, distances with public transportation feel shorter. Last night I just came back from Tokyo by airplane. This year I will be going to Tokyo at least once every month for different reasons.

When my kids were students we would have never imagine my present lifestyle. My daughter pointed that to me the other day we were having pizza at the Minato Mirai in Yokohama.

I was mainly a house wife, which I prefer to say in Spanish “ama” de casa, until one day Yuka encouraged me to take a job for a two weeks project translating for Mazda.

After that, things started changing.

She also pushed me to accept being representative for a group where business men get together to support the relationship between Hiroshima and Guanajuato.

Well, one day I had a meeting with this group.

I took the train and just passing Miyajima a group of Italians sat in the seat in front of me.

One of them shouted “that one is for special needs’ people!”.

One of them looked at me, came closer to me and said in a serious voice. Like if it was a secret:”He is not fat. He is pregnant”.

I could not contain and started laughing.

They started laughing as well and the people around just giggling.

They told me “wow! People here also laugh. Not like in other places”

We started talking about so many things. We so much into the talk that I didn’t pay attention to the stations until their guide said. “We are in Hiroshima get off the train!!!”

I was also going to Hiroshima so I stood up also in a hurry and got off the train with them. Their guide was in such a hurry that all of them started running.

We said goodbye.

Suddenly I looked around and couldn’t recognize anything.

I thought “where am I?”

We were in the city of Hiroshima but not in the station I was supposed to get off.

I was just hoping the next train was not too late so I could arrive on time to my meeting.

I needed to laugh with some one, so I called a friend. Emi started laughing and said. Maybe they were going to the Peace park. You just be in Nishi Hiroshima now.

And that is how I discovered a new route for my tourists as well. To make it closer and by taking a short taxi ride from there.

I suggest you sometimes leave your car and let the universe take you on a different journey to meet people in a “once in a lifetime experience” 一期一会Ichigo Ichie
