I had the opportunity to translate for a group that was coming to learn the Shinto way if seeing life. In order to be able to translate I had to stay one night two days and get the necessary instruction.

Everything was fascinating in the sense that it is very much the same that we read on the Bible but with very practical examples that make it easier to understand.

There was one part I had always thought a little unfair when I read the Bible (Matthew) but when explanation in Tenri was very clear.

Where it says that at the end of the times those who have more will be given more was explained to us as with a scale. An old type balance used to weight.

I our life was this type of balance scale we should always have the same weight in one side and the other.

One side is the actions we do. The good effort we put in our daily life.

When we put our effort one side of the scale gets heavy, and God in order to bring the scale back to the center, gives us something. A reward for our good actions.

In the opposite situation, if we don’t put any effort or do anything to do something good of our life with what God has already given us, the opposite happens. One side of the scale will be too light, and it will be unbalanced, so in order to get it back to balance, God will take away something from us.

What is given or taken away can be anything depending on our action. Time, money, health, love, and so on.

We are approaching those times so let’s pause for a moment and think if we are on the right path or if we should make changes.

This scale I found today as I stopped to talk at my friend’s pharmacy. It is from the Meiji era when the herbs were smashed and weighed to make the remedies.
